I ordered my first Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II prime lens at the end of January and just received it yesterday!

I have written about why every photography enthusiast should own a prime lens before but I am just putting that into practice now personally.
Here are my first impressions on the lens:
The lens is so small and light-weight and the pictures are very crisp. I am loving the bokeh effects from this lens from just a couple of test shots. I can’t wait to take some food photographs with this lens for my food blog.

The build quality is a little flimsy as I have read before but for me the price difference between the Canon f1.4 and f1.8 made choose this one to start with. (I got mine with a $25 rebate – so for $70 brand new eventually)
I can always upgrade later while I can shoot & learn a lot to work with a prime lens today instead of waiting to saving up for the f1.4.
You can also check out the Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM Lens for comparison. before you choose to buy one.
If you already own a 50mm prime lens, which one do you own?
