Now, lets take a look at some of the reviews from around the web
As before Canon isn’t officially ‘replacing’ the EOS 500D with the new 550D, and for the foreseeable future the EOS 550D will sit in the range between the EOS 500D and the EOS 7D.
Apart from a strong physical resemblance and seemingly identical 9 point AF systems, the newer camera seems to offer incremental changes in many areas compared to its older sibling, which remains on Canon’s website as of this writing.
Canon’s EOS 550D / Rebel T2i is a very impressive DSLR which redefines what we can expect from the upper entry-level category.
Canon’s Rebel T2i is an incredible camera—everything a first DSLR should be. It takes fantastic photos (and, crucially, video) for the price, it’s easy to use, and perhaps most importantly, it’s a camera you can grow with.
Externally, the Canon T2i looks very much like its predecessor, being almost identical in overall size but with softer, more gently rounded shoulders. Under the skin, the Canon T2i brings a few features from Canon’s prosumer EOS 7D model into a Rebel-class body, creating a baby brother to the 7D.

If you don’t have a mega budget and are serious about Photography, this is one of the best buys. Especially after the release of the 600D/T3i which has put pressure on the 550D price. See my reviews at Canon Rebel T2i review.
